Customer Review Singer 3116 Simple Sewing Machine
- Extremely Poor Design. No help from Singer Customer Svc
The reason I gave the Singer 3116 Simple Sewing Machine a one star was because there is no zero star. I bought a brand new one. Do not waste your time or your hard earned money. I would be embarassed to put my name on anything that hookie. Chinese made. The bobbin jammed over and over and over the first day I started to use it. Singer said, " it might be off timing ". It's brand new for crying out loud. The instruction video was superb. But that's where it ended. The product is really frustrating.  Let me tell you about the bobbin. It sits in a half moon shaped depression that you slide a " hook " into and then while holding that easily disgorged piece with one hand you have to slide the race over all that and then clip " dog ears " over each side to hold it in place. Then you take the bobbin and slide Singer 3116 Simple Sewing Machine in to the center post. I can't think of anything more prone to failure than that design except perhaps just tossing those parts in there without even dog earring them. From the Singer Customer Svc CTR apparently this is not new to them. They said the electronic units do not have " this problem ". Hope this helps with your decision making. I wish I had seen this prior to buying mine.

- I like the Curvy,
I had seen a Singer 8763 Curvy Electronic Sewing Machine at a store and thought it was what I wanted, so I checked on line and found a fair price so I ordered it. I received it at the time specified, and have now tried it out and like it very much. There have been no problems with it, it is light enough to carry around, compared to my old machine that I needed help carrying, and it works better than my Singer Athena ever did. The auto threader works fine, and the bobbin reminder took two tries to figure out, but it is great. The DVD sent as instructions was a little lacking in detail, but I am happy with my new machine.

- Singer Curvy Sewing Machine
I purchased my Singer 8763 Curvy Electronic Sewing Machine after taking sewing lessons learning on a Pfaff machine. After getting accustomed to some of the convenient and easy to use features on the Pfaff machines, I set out to find an equally convenient, easy to use AND affordable sewing machine. My research led me to the Curvy, and I have no regrets. I have completed many projects with this machine, all of which came out beautiful. Best of all, the machine is easy to use and has many convenient features. All in all, the Curvy has proven to be a great value to me and I will be enjoying it for a very long time!

- Smart Threading is a smart idea for seniors
We purchased this Singer 8763 Curvy Electronic Sewing Machine for our 86 year old quilting mother. She loves it and can work more independently. This is a dream for her. We combined this with other vision aids and it seems to be working like a charm.

- Nice machine,
This is my second machine and I bought Singer Commercial Grade Sewing Machine  because it seemed heavier duty than most in the price range. While the criticism about plastic parts is fair, the body is solid metal and heavy and the motor is extremely powerful. It's very easy to use, and the self adjusting tension is great, as I hate messing around with tension. the light could be brighter but overall I'm really happy with it. So far, all of the generic low shank feet I've bought have worked with it.

Customer Reviews
- New to Machine Embroidery
I purchased this machine because I wanted to learn to do machine embroidery and didn't want to spend a fortune. I think Singer Futura Ce 250 Embroidery Machine is an excellent value. It seems very solid and sewed beautifully with no adjustments straight out of the box. There are sensors in the thread path that are very sensitive and incorrectly report broken thread quite often. As soon as I got the hang of flossing the thread into the sensors this became less of a problem. There are several yahoo groups dedicated to machine embroidery and the nice people there were of great assistance to me as I got started.

- My first time ever on a sewing machine. So wonderful and simple
When I bought this machine I had never used a sewing machine before in my life. I had never even sewn by hand. I really had no clue what I was doing. I just followed the directions on how to thread it and within a few days I had it figured out. The Singer Futura Ce 250 Embroidery Machine was a breeze. I have gotten the annoying "broken thread" error plenty myself but I have found that if you just change the way you thread it you can find a way it works flawlessly. When I get the error I move the spool onto the vertical spool holder and try guiding it through the thread guide and that will work. So yeah sometimes it takes a second to get it running perfectly but once the thread it fine the machine works great. I realize I have no basis of comparison but for someone who has never sewn before to figure it all out this fast I feel I can let you all know that it isn’t complicated or difficult to use at all. The software is great, my embroideries come out beautifully and I am so happy I bought it.

- Best Embroidery Machine
I purchased my Singer Futura Ce 250 Embroidery Machine two months ago, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I also purchased the hyperfine and photo-stitch software to enhance my embroidery experience. I am thrilled with the performance of my new machine. The workbook dvd and the machine manual are not as detailed as I would have liked for it to be, but the combination of both provide me with everything I need to perform all of the capabilities the Futura CE-250 has to offer.

Customer Reviews
- Very Satisfied Consumer!
I originally bought the Singer Simple model. It was a great tool in teaching me basic threading and sewing technique, but I quickly outgrew it! The "simple" became not so simple when it came to bobbin thread and performance. It was a nightmare to continually have to re-thread the bobbin. That, along with various other factors, led to the search for an upgraded sewing machine. At first I was intimidated by the "electronic" features of the newer models, although now I am not sure why that is so. I LOVE THIS Singer Confidence 7470 Sewing Machine. I have yet to really play around with it, but the basics of just threading and straight stitching have proven to be far superior to the "simple" model when it comes to ease of use and performance.

- Great machine for the price!!
This is my 1st brand new machine. I had always rec'd hand-me-downs before and they were never good machines to begin with. I would rate myself as a decent sewer. I recently got into quilting. This Singer 7470 Computerized Sewing Machine you will give you nice stitches, you don't have to worry about your project falling apart. I think this machine would be good for anyone, even if they were new to sewing. The manual is super easy and so is winding the bobbin and threading the machine. I did a lot of research and for the features, this was the best quality for the price.

Customer Reviews
- Really love it and so glad I got it.
I just got Singer Sewing Machine Model 1507 today. The manual is super easy to understand. I'd never threaded a machine on my own before, but there is even a numbered guide right on the machine to tell you where the top thread goes. The guide on the machine plus the very simple instructions in the manual made threading the thing a breeze.  With the foot pedal, it's fairly easy to control the speed. I've read some reviews on similar machines (a Brother one, in particular, that I was also looking at) with complaints of it going from 0 to 100 with nothing in between. Not so with this one.
It's really quiet. Singer Sewing Machine Model 1507 is a little awkward having the top spool horizontal, but it works. It's a little heavier than I expected, but that makes it more sturdy. It has a little storage compartment that's really convenient and a nice way to keep everything in one place. It has a little lever for reverse sewing, which I really like. Comes with a neat little cover that has a slot at the top for the carrying handle.

- Serviceable, useful sewing machine
Singer Sewing Machine Model 1507 is a good all-purpose, low-cost household machine, although as a long-time Singer fan and former Singer sewing machine dealer, I don't care for the vertical bobbin design. It is compact and comes with its own sturdy, attractive cover that allows you to carry the machine by its handle, so don't bother ordering a hard-shell case for it. The free-arm and accessory compartment designs are carefully thought out.

Customer Reviews
- Maybe for the occasional mending
It lasted me until June, and I started having a lot of problems with it. It started making terrible noises, sounded awful, wouldn't sew straight, stitches were inconsistent, tension was messing up intermittently I had to stop using Singer 7463 Confidence Sewing Machine for vacation, got back and it was worse than ever. I sent it in for service (it took 3 weeks) and they sent it back saying they had adjusted the tension and found nothing wrong. It worked quietly for about 10 minutes, and then started freaking out again. I took it back and they swapped it out for a new one . The new one started having problems with feeding the fabric and rattling by the second day. The pressure on the presser foot was off, and there was no way of adjusting it. No way to lower the feed dogs either. I ended up returning it for a refund.

- Poorly Manufactured
Ever since this Singer 7463 Confidence Sewing Machine was brand new, it has made rattling sounds and jams to a halt, signaling a beeping alarm, especially when hemming denim. Even an experienced sewing lady at Jo-Ann's was surprised that it did not sew through certain parts of denim hems. Now, after two months of okay sewing, the part that rotates around the bobbin has gone so completely out of alignment with the rest of the machine that when the needle goes down it hits rock bottom, bends like crazy laterally, and breaks the needle. This particular machine had the same problems that maniac mentions in her review.

- Froze up after three years of little use.
Bought this three years ago for my daughter. She used it to sew approx. 30 puppy diapers and then my sister used Singer 7436 Electronic Sewing Machine for a couple small projects. I pulled it out yesterday and it broke beyond repair after making 20 puppy diapers. I wouldn't buy this machine again. I feel very disappointed.

- GREAT SEWING AT THIS PRICE
Singer 7436 Electronic Sewing Machine is a remarkable machine especially for this price. it's good to see that Singer is still innovating and making sewing machines that are affordable yet full of useful features. The only thing to be aware of is that you need to buy the hard case cover separately.

Customer Reviews
- Great machine
I wanted an affordable machine that had plenty of bells and whistles. I was leaning toward the Singer Featherweight, but this caught my eye because it was less expensive. I've put Singer Sewing Machine Model 2662 to the test with a few projects, and it has performed great. The only problem I noticed is that the feet occasionally come off if accidentally bumped. However, it is not that annoying, because it happens when I am not in the middle of stitching.

- Just okay
So far this is just an 'okay' sewing machine; definitely NOT great!!! The straight and zig-zag stitches are fine....but the other stitches just won't work! I've tried all I know to get them to work but NO LUCK.
Will have to take it to my local Singer shop to have them look at this. Which is very frustrating!!
Thankfully, it's still under warranty!

- Don't Recommend
This Singer Sewing Machine Model 2662 worked fine for about 6-8 months but after that it just began to be one problem after another. The thread gets caught in the tensioned and begins to sew microscopic stitches and then quits. Wouldn't recommend.

Customer Reviews
- A great basic sewing machine for a novice at sewing!
I really only planned to use this Singer 6038 Mechanical Sewing Machine in order to make some window valances and cornices for my house, and I have found that it is very simple to use and heavy-duty enough to handle thick upholstery fabric. It doesn't have a zillion and one different stitches or other bells and whistles, but it certainly has enough to meet the needs of somebody who is not an advanced seamstress, and yet it is still not an "entry-level" model. For what I was planning to do with this machine, I really didn't need all of the stitches and other bells and whistles.
As it turns out the Izek arrived quite quickly and after watching the video that arrived with it, I decided to return the Izek and keep the Singer 6038 Mechanical Sewing Machine The video for the Izek demonstrated the laborious process of programming in the kind of stitch you wanted to make, every single time you wanted to change a stitch.

- Great Machine
I have been sewing when I was a child. I LOVE this machine!! Singer 6038 Mechanical Sewing Machine is the best I have ever used. I have had no problems whatsoever with it, and now even look forward to hemming and small fixit's. I use to avoid delicate or heavy fabrics with my other machines because the tension would always muck up. I've nard no trouble adjusting the tension (when needed) and the machine sews beautifully!! This is also a very quiet machine!! The needle threader is wonderful. Very easy to see and use stitch adjustment nobs and the included video is very helpful if you need more instruction than what is in the manual. However, Singer I suggest an instruction DVD for easier menu search. All in all, highly recommended. Totally don't get the negative reviews.

- Easy to use and afforadable too!
I have been sewing on a Brother sewing machine for 13 years and decided I needed a new one. I'm so glad I got this one. It's metal construction makes it very durable, and the plastic outer shell makes it very attractive. I've been a stay-at-home mom for 14 years and supplement our income by making curtains and doing repairs, so I needed a new machine. This Singer 6038 Mechanical Sewing Machine is much faster than my old machine and has more power for sewing over those blue jean seams that are such a pain. I had no trouble with the needle threader or any of the other features and the video was very helpful in introducing me to my new machine. I am looking forward to making my daughters' Easter dresses on my new machine! I have to admit, some of the other reviews made me a little nervous, but I'm glad I bought this machine anyway. I think most of the complaints come from user error and impatience. I recommend this machine highly.

- Embroider/Sewing from the company that started it all
THE Singer Quantum Xl 1000 Computerized Sewing Machine absolutely the BEST (technically) machine I have used in the past 10 years. I used to work for a dealer and bought a Swedish Embroidery/Sewing machine. I really liked it until I sat down at the Singer Quantum Xl 1000 Computerized Sewing Machine. This machine is, BAR NONE, the absolute best machine I have used. It has a patented mock-hand sewing stitch that looks as pretty on the back as it does on the front. This stitch will sew out in five sizes.(other machines look ok on the front but not so nice on the back) It has Heirloom stitches that can't be duplicated. In the sewing function, a topstitch is available in 8 different choices of combinations. For basting things together, I was happy to discover 2 selections for my choosing, a longer or shorter stitch that doesn't lock, but holds together just until I pull it out(without having to cut any thread).

- Recommend without hesitation for sewing and embroidery.
I love the Singer Quantum Xl 1000 Computerized Sewing Machine. I bought the machine after being initially discouraged about Singer, the XL-1000, and just about anything else you might imagine. I have a Viking D1, and I briefly had a Baby lock ESE, so I am somewhat familiar with different brands of sewing/embroidery machines.  The reason I love the Singer Quantum Xl 1000 Computerized Sewing Machine is because of the PERFECT stitch quality (regular sewing). This is my favorite machine to use for topstitching. The XL-1000 is pretty easy to use, although the manual is awful. The XL-1000 is always ready to go, and performs well.

Customer Reviews
- Stitch Sew Quick Hand Held Sewing Machine
Very useful and handy, but some little problems. Sometimes it misses a stitch, in particular if the thread is too loose. You always need to remember to use it for no more than 10 seconds and then pause for 5, otherwise it gets stuck.

- Not a bad choice, fullfill the basic needs
Brought this for sewing my Halloween costumes. After reading the reviews, so scraped it won't work properly. But I read the instructions and followed every single steps, the Singer Stitch Sew Quick Hand Held Sewing Machine
works fine. I am happy that it fulfills my basic needs. Instead of spending a lot money to buy a big one, this machine is not a bad choice at all.
Note: You do need to sew 10 seconds and stop for 5. Otherwise, it will loose. But your hand starts tired after 10 seconds anyway. Overall, you get what you paid for. Nothing fancy, but recommended if just for basic line sowings or repairs.

Customer Reviews
- Nice embroidery machine,
This is a fairly nice embroidery machine for the price. It does have a few things I don't like but overall I am glad that I purchased it.The embroidery designs sew out beautifully! And getting a machine that you can hook directly to your pc is definitely the way to go! It eliminates pricy design disks and cards. You can find lots of great designs on the web to purchase and download to use on this machine plus it accepts many formats. What I don't like about the embroidery aspect is the fact that the large hoop is not a true 5X7.So I have to resize a lot of my designs to fit the hoop. I really wish they offered a larger hoop as an extra accessory! The digitizing software that comes with the 200 is not that spectacular. You can take simple clipart pictures and turn them into embroidery but nothing too complex and the software doesn’t allow you to make appliqués. I think you can get better digitizing software elsewhere. It also only comes with 2 fonts: courier and block. You can purchase a disk with extra fonts but the disks for this machine are expensive! I think they run around $200.The sewing part of this machine I rarely use mostly because I have a Euro Pro sewing machine that I sew on and comparing the 2 I am all for the Euro Pro hands down. This machine seams to sew a little "rough" in comparison. Overall I think this is a Great starter embroidery machine at a good price.

- Lots of fun
This is a great starter Singer Quantum Futura Ce 200.. It will pretty much do anything you want...The sewing machine I can't tell you much about. I use it exclusively for the embroidery function. It only comes with the two fonts. If you are going to need script, you will have to find it and download it. It will take almost any format. I have been using it for nearly a year now and have had no problems. The instruction manual is awful It really doesn't tell you anything. You are left to your own devises as far as figuring out how to embroidery....Don't forget to drop the feed dogs when your in embroidery mode. A broken needle in that position can possibly make you have to have it serviced. timing jumps out...If you are just starting out be patient and just keep playing.

Customer Reviews
- Very Satisfied Consumer!
I have only been sewing for less then 2 months! I originally bought the Singer 7470 Confidence Electronic Sewing Machine. It was a great tool in teaching me basic threading and sewing technique; but I quickly outgrew it! I LOVE THIS MACHINE! I have yet to really play around with it, but the basics of just threading and straight stitching have proven to be far superior to the "simple" model when it comes to ease of use and performance.

- Great machine for the price!!
This is my 1st brand Singer 7470 Confidence Electronic Sewing Machine. I had always rec'd hand-me-downs before and they were never good machines to begin with. I would rate myself as a decent sewer. I recently got into quilting. Singer 7470 Confidence Electronic Sewing Machine you will give you nice stiches, you don't have to worry about your project falling apart. (If you have ever had that happen you know how devasting it can be). I think this machine would be good for anyone, even if they were new to sewing. The manual is super easy and so is winding the bobbin and threading the machine. I did a lot of research and for the features, this was the best quality for the price.

Customer Reviews
- Love it!
Love this! Sews beautifully, lots of great stitches, very easy to switch out the pressure foot. Only drawback I've found was the bobbin cover is easy to misplace. It pops off completely to put on a new bobbin. But I've just made of habit of putting it in the same spot when changing bobbins so I won't lose it. I really like the little cubby hole storage box on the front to store the extra feet. Very nice machine, and I'm very happy with it.

- A Great Buy
I have owned this machine for 18 months now and still love it. All the features work, I love that I don't need to oil the machine. I do maintain the bobbin case, which I think is easy to take apart and put back. The Singer 7466 Electronic Sewing Machine have come a long way. I have sewn pocketbooks with many layers of fabric (purchased the upper feed foot which is a joy). I have sewn jersey weight fabrics too. I hope I don't jinx myself now, but for the money I think this machine is a great buy. I also hear some bad things about the Singer company, but I have to say that I was just about to write them a letter to complement them on their customer service. They already replaced my threader which I believe I destroyed myself.

- Great machine for beginner!
My husband bought me Singer 7466 Electronic Sewing Machine for my birthday I had not touched a sewing machine in 15 years, and that was in highschool! I have been teaching myself ever since, the ease of this machine has been perfect, beautiful results.

Customer Reviews
- Closest thing to an industrial machine.
I bought Juki Tl 98Q Sewing Machine a few years ago because I couldn't resist the idea of a faster home machine. I still have my Bernina, (25 years old) that sews beautifully, But I have to admit that I LOVE sewing on this machine. It is fast and the stitches are solid. It also has the same features that I love on my Bernina, which is the leg lift, and easy set up. The threading is smooth, and downright flawless. Honestly, the price is fantastic if you consider what you have to pay for an industrial machine, or even a brand new Bernina. I find that I can do 80% of my sewing using a single stitch. I have to switch back to my Bernina for button holes and maybe special darning projects (which I rarely use). I've worked on vinyl, polyester chiffon, denim and lots of cotton. Stitches are so clean, I would trust this machine for decorative top stitching. I didn't really "need" this additional machine, but now that I have it, I would never give it up.

- I really love this machine.
I really love Juki Tl 98Q Sewing Machine I got it about three weeks ago and I was so pleasantly surprised by it's performance. Yes, it only does a straight stitch but it does a perfect, powerful, clean straight stitch unlike any machine I have used a side from an industrial Juki, which is just not practical in my apartment. I thought my old Singer was great (and it is, i must say) but this machine has not jammed once, it performs perfectly and I could not be happier with it!! I highly recommend this to anyone who sews a lot or who works in the fashion industry but just doesn't have room for an industrial at home!!!

Customer Reviews Singer 8280 Mechanical Sewing Machine

- Follow Directions & you'll LOVE it.
My first impression when I began sewing was that using this machine was so much easier and simpler and SMOOTHER than my old expensive Necchi. In general, I have hated sewing, but using this machine made sewing FUN. I am now looking forward to my next sewing project. Having not sewn anything other than repairs, for over 30 years, I found this little machine to be an excellent value. It can be TRICKY to thread and to load the bobbin but ONLY in as much as YOU MUST FOLLOW the clearly illustrated instructions. One thing I found helpful is that the TOP SPEED is not so fast that it is difficult to manage, yet it is fast enough! Some machines have such a fast speed that you can never put your foot all the way down on the pedal. This machine has a very good sensitivity and a manageable fast speed with my foot resting on pedal. Much more comfortable than having to control my foot!

- Very good for the money
I was looking for a cheap but reliable machine on the internet, and was all settled on buying a Brother. Then one day I found a sewing store in my town, and the cheapest they had was this Singer 8280 Mechanical Sewing Machine. I came back home, and read the reviews, and decided to buy the machine, because the store would demonstrate it before I took it. As soon as we started sewing in the store, the thread all bunched up! But the lady was cool, said "it's not threaded right", and after re-threading, and showing me where the problem was (thread wasn't caught in the tensioning part), it worked like a charm. I've now done a set of curtains, without problems. In use, the Singer 8280 Mechanical Sewing Machine feels strong, sturdy, well designed, and well calibrated.

- It is easy to use and very fast and strong
The Juki Long Arm Quilting Sewing Machine is a solid little industrial machine with all metal parts. It is easy to use and very fast and strong. It only does a straight stitch (nope, not even a zig) but comes standard with several handy feet, including a hopping quilting foot - perfect for free-motion designs. I got this one to use on a quilting frame, and kept my beloved 1980s Pfaff for piecing, but if you need a nice little mid-arm, the Juki is an excellent choice.

- Could be better...lots better
After reading a lot of on line reviews, I got this Singer 7462 Electronic Sewing Machine in September. Funny that at the time I could hardly find many negative reviews and the ones I did find were people who had a beef with Singer or a weird fluke that made their machine break. So I took the plunge. I'd had another Singer that lasted a good 10 years with sporadic use. I'm certainly no seamstress. This was more or less for easy projects and simple sewing. It was easy to get started on the machine. The buttons for the various stitches are great. The horizontal placement of the thread seemed like a great idea. The instruction book was clear. It is easy to perform maintenance on the machine as the screws are easily accessible. That's about where my joy ends and my complaints begin. could be better...lots better

- Breaks after a few months
I've had this Singer 7462 Electronic Sewing Machine for about 7 months, and i've had tons of problems with birdnesting and the bobbin. the "auto-tension" feature is hardly automatic. the "auto" setting is only good for 2 layers of light- to moderate-weight fabrics. forget trying to sew boucle or more than 2 layers of denim with this machine. stick to broadcloth and thinner denims. of course, you can only sew these fabrics if the bobbin works. the bobbin cradle (where you lay the top-loading bobbin) broke yesterday afternoon, and now i've gotta buy a replacement. i was sewing two layers of boucle with mild thread, and the machine jammed. i thought, "well, that's normal for this machine," and went about un-jamming it. when i went back to sew, it did it again, something that hardly happens for another 10 minutes. after a disassembly of the bobbin area, i determined a piece on the bobbin cradle had broken off. "great," i thought, "now i need to buy a replacement cradle."

- Singer 7462 is a best buy!!!
For the new or experienced sewer, this is a wonderful electronic machine with great features, but not a huge price. Better quality than the Singer 7442 pay the extra $20.00 for the Singer 7462 Electronic Sewing Machine and get a much better quality sewing machine. I still have my Singer 237 from the late 1960's, and I plan to keep the new Singer 7462 Electronic Sewing Machine for 30 years--or until my eyes or body give out!!! Currently, the machine can be purchased on EBAY for $199.00 total with no shipping costs and no taxes through June 30. During June. .
